MindSpore Officially Goes Open Source
Empowering Global Developers with the All-Scenario AI Computing Framework
[Shenzhen, China, March 28, 2020] Today, at the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 (Cloud) – HDC.Cloud, Huawei made a series of announcements. MindSpore, the all-scenario AI computing framework, officially goes open source on Gitee. ModelArts Pro, industry's first AI application development suite for enterprises, goes live on HUAWEI CLOUD. Huawei also showcased best practices by partners based on Huawei's Atlas AI computing platform for application across the cloud, edge, and device. So far, Huawei has fully brought to developers the full-stack, all-scenario AI solutions announced at HUAWEI CONNECT 2018.
MindSpore Officially Goes Open Source
Professor Chen Lei, chief scientist of Huawei MindSpore and IEEE Fellow, announces that Huawei's all-scenario AI computing framework MindSpore goes open source on Gitee. Huawei will strive to build a global open source community for a prosperous AI software and hardware ecosystem.

MindSpore now open source
MindSpore focuses on better usability and lower entry barriers for AI developers. Professor Chen Lei said, "MindSpore natively adapts to all scenarios across the device, edge, and cloud. It implements AI Algorithms As Code by on-demand collaboration for easier model development. MindSpore includes cutting-edge technologies and co-optimization with Huawei Ascend AI processors to improve runtime efficiency and computing performance. MindSpore also supports other processors such as GPU and CPU."
ModelArts Pro, Industry's First Enterprise-Grade AI Application Development Suite
Yuan Jing, General Manager of HUAWEI CLOUD General AI Services, released ModelArts Pro, a first-of-its-kind AI application development suite for enterprises. ModelArts Pro is positioned as an enterprise AI productivity tool on the cloud and provides an innovative way to bring industrial AI into practice. It integrates the know-how of algorithm experts and the knowledge of industry experts into corresponding suites and workflows to truly enable AI application developers. This novel approach delivers a total boost to AI development efficiency and implementation results. ModelArts Pro enables enterprises with the skills to build AI applications, and enables developers across industries, making AI really accessible.
All-Scenario Best Practices by Partners Based on Huawei Atlas AI Computing Platform
Zhang Dixuan, General Manager of Huawei Atlas Data Center Business, shared the device-edge-cloud development practices of industry partners based on Huawei Atlas AI computing platform. The presentation also includes an extensive demonstration of the performance optimization process using the high-density cloud AI inference solution, as well as efficient edge inference and ultra-low-consumption device-side inference based on cloud-edge collaboration.
Huawei has worked with dozens of partners to promote the use of the Atlas series accelerator module, card, edge station, and server powered by Huawei Ascend AI processors in dozens of industries, including smart transportation, smart power, smart finance, smart city, and smart manufacturing.
Zhang Dixuan also announced the Tensor Boost Engine (TBE) for open beta. TBE enriches the AI ecosystem and supports developers to customize operators. Huawei plans to award over 100 universities and partners with excellent operator contribution. The initiatives will help fully unleash the computing power of the Ascend AI processors.
Professor Li Tao from Nankai University demonstrated fundus screening, an AI-enabled application based on the Huawei Atlas 200 DK Developer Kit.
Dr. Li Jin, co-founder and CTO of Apulis Technology, shared the development practices based on Huawei Atlas and launched the industry's first open source heterogeneous AI platform powered by the Huawei Ascend 910 processor.
At HUAWEI CONNECT 2018, Huawei released the full-stack all-scenario AI solution for the first time, including chips, chip enablement, training and inference framework, and application enablement. It can be deployed in all scenarios, such as public cloud, private cloud, edge computing, IoT industry terminals, and consumer terminals.
Now at HDC.Cloud, Huawei announced the headway it has made, especially on the developer side. The full-stack, all-scenario solutions enable global developers to better develop AI applications, bring AI into practice for various industries, and drive value for enterprises and the society. These all contribute to a more robust AI industry chain and ecosystem across the globe.
