The Joint Space-native AI Solution from MindSpore and KubeEdge Debuts at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2022

KubeCon is a flagship open source conference in the cloud native field hosted by the Linux Foundation. KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2022 was held in Valencia, Spain from May 16 to May 20. Operation and technical experts from global open source and cloud native communities gathered here to discuss the open source ecosystem and advance the development and progress of cloud native computing.

This 15-minute technical keynote presentation was a precious opportunity as the MindSpore team became the first Chinese open source team to present a non-sponsored keynote at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe. This also marked the fourth consecutive year that the MindSpore team presented keynotes at summits held by the OpenStack Foundation and Cloud Native Computing Foundation.

Sharing Topic

In this talk on May 18, we presented how we combined KubeEdge Sedna, the cloud native edge machine learning suite, with the MindSpore deep learning framework, to enable incremental learning for satellite to accomplish tasks like remote sensing and earth observing.

Follow-up Plans

In the future, KubeEdge and MindSpore will be expanded to more scenarios. For example:

Deep space learning for Earth-orbit/Mars-orbit/Venus-orbit missions that facilitate automatic constellation forming or smallsat/cubesat fleet management;

Cloud native policy for multi-tenant ride-sharing smallsat/cubesat resource isolation and security/privacy;

Cloud native space computing that enables better orbit-ground or orbit-orbit communication, monitoring and resource management.
